In Pennsylvania the last 5 years there was a 250% increase in babies born with substance abuse issues. Babies who are born addicted to opiates, and other drugs, are often left to fight it out on their own - due to their mothers not wanting/not being able to care for them. One nurse noticed this growing problem and decided to start a volunteer program. Jane Cavanaugh worked to enlist citizens to come to the hospital and hold, snuggle, soothe newborns going through withdrawal. Have you heard about this?
