I was overwhelmed with all the responses, helpful hints AND new information on my last survey. I have never heard of a 'no-see-um' but I think I've always thought of these critters as biting flies, and indeed they are, but can also be gnats and whole slew of tiny critters who can get into the house, just like a mosquito and bite everyone, including your pets! I've taken steps to trap them inside, with little traps but find that CO2 traps are extremely expensive, so can't afford them. I'm killing EVERYTHING now, not just flies, but gnats too. Sprayed part of my yard where I can get bitten easily and my flower beds on the porch. Take that you nasty bugs! I read where not even repellant works well with no-see-ums but I make sure I'm using towellettes before going outside anyway. Does anyone know if you eat lots of garlic (as a member suggested) or vitamin B, etc. it helps to repel them (or make my skin not smell so tasty)?

I'm calling the mosquito abatement assoc. in my town to see if they can spray the drainage areas near me as they do at various times thru the year. We don't have bed bugs in my area as a few people suggested. It's a low desert area, very dry and very hot for 4 or 5 months a year. It would be rare for bed bugs to be found. Mattress is only 5 years old etc. However, don't think I didn't check after my survey! LOL. I killed several teeny tiny flying bugs in my bathroom yesterday over a 10 hour period, 1 was a mosquito I think and several were tiny 'flies' hanging around the toilet or sink. I read that having the A/C on keeps them at bay and that's what brought them out to the warmest room in my house-the bathroom. I also bought tea tree oil and a few other itch remedies, thanks to all of the members. Thank You so much! Any other 'traps' you can think of for inside or outside that keep these critters away from the doors would be appreciated! Are you ready for 'mosquito' season (Summer)?
