I live in a large multi-unit apartment building (not pictured). Our hallways are covered with wall-to-wall carpet. Do you think doormats are still necessary?

Today my new neighbor put a doormat like this in front of her entrance. I had no idea what that meant. Do you?

Bewildered by the advice on the mat, I Googled, "Touch grass". According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the phrase directs a person to "spend time outside in nature or doing activities in the real world, instead of spending time on the internet. It's time to log off and touch grass." Do you find it ironic that I used the internet to interpret advice that I should spend less time on the internet?
Yes, it's so ironic it's funny.
