Our sunny adventure continues as we board a flight and travel across the Atlantic to Germany, where sunflowers have made their mark in record books and countryside landscapes. Whether growing along a country road or in a garden, sunflowers can reach impressive heights. While standard flowers grow 6 to 10 feet tall, the tallest sunflower on record reached over 30 feet right here in Germany. Have you ever seen a sunflower that was several feet tall?

Our next stop gives us an up-close look at these towering flowers. At the center of the sunflower, notice the beautiful spiral pattern. These spirals follow natural mathematical patterns found throughout nature. Before taking this survey, were you aware of the mathematical patterns found in sunflower centers?

Sunflowers are often associated with positivity and sunshine due to the bright yellow petals and sunny appearance. They are also popular with birds, especially finches and cardinals, which enjoy eating the seeds once the flowers mature. As we continue our journey, we notice birds visiting the fields. Have you ever seen birds feeding on sunflower seeds?

Our final stop at sunset brings us to a peaceful overlook where thousands of sunflowers stretch across the landscape. From my backyard to roadsides, parks, countryside fields, and communities, sunflowers bring color and charm to so many places. Do you think sunflowers add beauty where they grow?

Thanks for joining me on this sunny little journey. Safe travels home, and may your days be as bright as a field of sunflowers! NOTE: (True purple sunflowers do not exist. I just liked the picture. So any "purple sunflower" you see is either dyed, digitally edited, or a very dark red/burgundy variety.) Was your interest in sunflowers piqued just a little?
