It's on the way, or I'm on the way. But, is it really?
1. If you were told that something you were to receive in the mail was "on the way", what does this mean?
The item has already been mailed.
The item has been ordered by the company sending it, and will be sent once they receive it.
2. If you were told something was on the way, and it had not actually been mailed, is this acceptable?
Yes, that's fine.
No, it's deceptive.

3. Have you ever told someone on the phone or by text that you were "on the way", when you had not actually left the house yet? :-)
Maybe once or twice.
Only occasionally, if someone I am meeting with is impatient.
Yes, I do this from time to time.
I often do this.
4. Do you have a friend or family member who regularly tells others they are on the way, when they are still at home?
No, I don't think so.
Yes, I know someone who does this.
Yes, I do this.
I am undecided or unsure.
I suspect someone I know does this with me, because it always takes a long time for them to get there, after they say they are "on the way".
