Results: Forgiveness

I forgave both my father & my mother for yrs of verbal, mental, emotional & physical abuse by writing them both a heartfelt letter. In the letter I told the truth of what they had done & by the end I was able to let that unforgiveness & anger go. I didn't have to send them the letter to forgive them, as it wasn't dependent on their reaction to it but in my choosing to forgive. Some people don't want to forgive because they think forgiveness & reconciliation are the same & they are not. Sometimes reconciliation is not possible, if the person stays the same. You don't have to have a relationship with the person you forgive. Forgiveness is more about healing you regardless of how they react. Forgiveness can feel like a hard thing to do but once you do it, you feel liberated.
