Results: Morals. What's right and what's Way Out There?

My 57 year old friend is 3 years into her second marriage - second marriages for both of them - and she has a 14 year old dog. This dog has mostly lost his hearing and eyesight, but is otherwise healthy. She adores her little dog. Because of the hearing and eyesight loss he follows her and her husband around and barks when he gets startled.. he was with her when she met this man she married, but now he's telling her that the dog is a nuisance and if she doesn't have him put down he will leave her. She refuses and he's saying that she's choosing the dog over him so he's leaving. I told her to tell him not to let the door hit him on the way out.. would you kill your pet for someone under these circumstances?

Have you ever had someone make you a totally (in my opinion) ridiculous demand?

In my opinion, if someone is asking you to do this then they're only thinking of themselves, and it they don't leave the marriage for this, then they will think of something else, eventually. Do you agree?

Would love some thoughts on this. I may pass some of your thoughts on to her. She's devastated. Please also feel free to leave comments.. I want her to see she's not alone and I'm pretty confident that the popular opinion will be to tell him to take a hike..
