The home was open from 1925 to 1961. In 1986, a local historian began to take an interest and started investigating. She found 796 death certificates on file, but there were no burial records. When this was reported, people were outraged and demanded a judicial enquiry. Two years later, they have just started to excavate the bones. The government has vowed that it will do its best to find DNA and try to match it to the families or descendants. Many people have volunteered their DNA samples to aid in this. They think it will take at least two years. Do you think it will take much, much longer and many will never be identified? YES

These homes were set up because women who were pregnant and not married were considered to be no better than prostitutes. It didn't matter if they had been raped or abused they had sex before marriage and they were evil. There was no attempt made to find or punish the fathers of these poor children. Does this surprise you? YES

The Mothers and children who went through this were labelled illegitimate. The women would not be able to marry or hold a job. The same thing happened to their children. Does it surprise you that far more Irish women immigrated to England or other countries than Irish men, and it remains so today? YES

Before you start pointing fingers and commenting about Canada's role in the residential school horrors. I am well aware of it. However, I would like to point out that Ireland has never admitted guilt, apologised or offered compensation. To this day, neither have any of the nuns' orders that were involved in these mother/baby homes. Canada has admitted guilt, has apologised and has offered and given compensation. Our governments are doing their best to deal with reconciliation with our First Nations. Are you aware of this? YES

Actor Liam Neeson will be filming a documentary this fall regarding this discovery. I sincerely hope that it will be broadcast in North America and the rest of the world. Neesom and another famous Irish actor, James Nesbitt, are also involved in 'Disappeared'. This is a charity that searches for the bodies of people who were killed and their bodies hidden during the 'Troubles'. Do you think these are worthy endeavours? YES
