Every form of travel involves some way to purchase it. I always assumed that if someone were to use a travel agent, he/she would be paying more for the service (hence, the TA's commission.) Is this what you thought happened, too? I have always known how TA's receive commissions.

Turns out every form of travel except airfare (for the most part) has a commission built into the price. So if you, the consumer, book travel, you pay the same price as if you book through a TA's site or let them do the work for you. If a TA books travel, the commission simply routes to the TA after the sale and travel are complete. Did you know this? Yes
