Did you know the platypus is one of only a few mammals (called monotremes) that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young ?

Did you know mother platypuses do not have nipples and they secrete milk through pores in their skin, and their babies (called puggles) lick it straight off her fur and abdomen ?

Did you know platypuses have no teeth and they grind up their food using hard plates in their mouths and bits of gravel they scoop up from the riverbed ? (They have an electric "Sixth Sense" and when diving, the platypus closes its eyes, ears, and nose. It finds prey like shrimp and worms by using thousands of electroreceptors in its bill to pick up tiny electrical signals from muscle movement.)

Did you know male platypuses have a sharp, hollow spur on each back ankle that delivers a painful venom ?

Did you know under ultraviolet light, platypus fur glows a strange bluish-green ? (But scientists do not know why.)
