My 5 year old Dachshund was recently having severe back pain. The veterinarian said it is likely from IVDD (intervertebral disc disease). She seemed to recover with medication but her vet recommended taking her to a neurologist to possibly have an MRI to determine if she needs surgery. The cost for all of this is crazy. It is $300 for the initial appointment, from $3900-$4900 for the MRI and up to $10 000 for the surgery. I took her to a different vet for a second opinion who recommended a specialist near where I live who does accupunture, chiropratic treatment, and laser treatment on dogs. I have never heard of this before. Have you heard of these treatments for dogs?
