Results: This is a survey about survey questions I sometimes have difficulty answering because they assume that before we purchase something, we spend time researching the company, its products, its values and/or how likely our friends will also buy.

I must admit there are times I get an emotional kick from a good day's shopping and there are times that I do tell friends, family members or others about something I bought. There are some companies I feel happy to do business with for less tangible reasons.There are also times when I try to do business with a company and they do something unrelated to the product itself that kills the deal. Many times however I find what I am looking for, pay for it, go home and use it and that's about it. So here are some questions that assume there is much more to it than that. How do you answer these questions?

The first type of question assumes you have an emotional attachment to the company that provides a service, sells a product or provides advice. For example there may be a question. "How close do you feel to ABC company?" How do you wish you could respond if that option were available?
I feel very close to ABC company. If it were only human I might want to take it out on a date. We could even be soulmates.

Are you kidding? I'm not sure if I even need this product but there was so much advertising about it and besides I got a coupon in one of those flyers that fill my mailbox twice a week. How do I feel? Ask me in a year once the warranty runs out.

I feel as close to this company as the product itself is before I fight through all those layers of packaging. ABC is a huge multinational conglomerate. Even employees won't feel close to it.

The next one is about the sharing of values. Is the ability to "buy or not buy based on shared values" an option only the wealthy can afford? Do the rest of us simply buy from ABC company because it had (we hope) the best product at the best price?
I haven't the time or inclination to check out what the company media department says its values are. I might NOT buy based on something negative from the media or some other source but that's about it.

If someone asks me for my opinion about a company or product I will tell them what I think but not until then.
