My wife and I have been less busy recently. We have had fewer medical appointments, we moved into an apartment and got rid of our RV, (which simplified our life) and our new location is "close to everything." Now that I have more time, and Amazon is still open for my business, I have spent more time doing surveys and have been able to purchase some new toys I would not have bought with "real money." These might be of interest to TW members.

Maybe I have arthritis or maybe they just don't make can openers the way they used to. All I know is my wife and I were getting sore wrists and a lot of frustration trying to open cans with the fancy can opener we bought not that long ago (well about 10 years ago maybe). This gave me sufficient reason to buy this snazzy electric can opener. Here are some of the features we like. Which of them do you like?

Since we retired in 2014, we have spent every winter somewhere where humidity is high and we needed different types of methods to reduce indoor humidity and the condensation it causes. This winter we have returned to a city where, due to the extremely cold winters, the air is very dry and we need different types of methods to increase indoor humidity because of the dry skin, static and nasal congestion it causes. We sold our dehumidifiers and bought humidifiers. The humidifier we bought from Amazon has features we really like. What do you think?

Like the three bears, where I live is not too humid and not too dry. It's just right so I don't need to buy one of these devices. (lucky me!)

A humidifier that uses ultrasonics to produce a fine mist is more sanitary than the ones that use a fan blowing through a replaceable filter.

My wife and I are committed coffee drinkers but I find as I get older I like a cup of tea from time to time. I found it difficult to find the quality and flavour of tea I liked because most of them took cheap tea and added a lot of stuff. I now have "discovered" some excellent teas and (obviously) I needed an electric kettle. Not having had a kettle for over 50 years (other than when camping) I had no idea how good the technology had become. Here are some details of the kettle I bought. Are you as impressed as I am/was?

Now that I have started drinking tea again I must say I find the weakest link in the making of a good cup of tea is the tea bag. I am interested in feedback from TW tea drinkers as to what some of the best teas, tea making methods and other tips are. There are different teas for different occasions and times of day and people from different cultures have traditional preferences. This may be a topic for a future survey but, for now, I welcome comments and suggestions.

A long time ago I drank Orange Pekoe tea. I bought some made by Tetley. There was a lot of grunge deposited in my cup and the tea was blah. Is this a sign of a lower quality tea? Comments about Tetley and the grunge deposits?

Lapsang Souchong has been banned because the tea is smoked when processed. But so is bacon, BBQ and many other foods. Are we banning too much?
  • Absolutely
