We have survived our first winter since getting rid of our RV and abandoning our annual migration south. I think we did this just in time since, because of global warming, we have had to cope with record low temperatures. We were able to spend more time indoors without worrying about the weather and were able to catch up on reading, blogging, survey completion and so on. More surveys means more mad money and, since Amazon is still open for my business, I have been able to purchase some new toys I would not have bought with "real money." These might be of interest to TW members.

Our golden retriever slurps through gallons of water per day, much of which splashes onto the floor. She also gobbles up her food like it is her last meal. This means my wife and I have to bend over to top up the water bowl, mop up the water, or clean the food bowl. This is hard on our backs. I was going to make a bench for the bowls to sit on until I priced it out (not worth it) but then we saw this adjustable bowl stand and our problem was solved. Water still spills but it is into a tray we have placed under the thing. Do you think your back would appreciate one of these? ($30)

Last year I got a "Fitbit" type watch that seemed to have all the features of the brand name and looked identical. It also had a cheap plastic watch band that irritated my wrist making the watch unwearable after a few days. Then I discovered that there were no alternatives to the cheap strap unlike the many that would fit a Fitbit. My expensive solution was to swap the clone for the brand product and buy a better (cheap) strap using my TW money. I am now on my way to my target weight/fitness goal (arrival in October). There are so many practical uses to this type of watch so I can understand why they are so popular - do you have one?

As my wife and I get older we have found if we increase the light level, we can read the small print without having to get a magnifying glass or more powerful prescription lenses. We also found that there are some books we want to read that are not available in digital format so we have had to go old school and get the paper back or hard back options. We needed a way to get focused light where we needed it for book reading, crafts, home repairs and many other uses. This gizmo in the photo is ideal for all of these. It doubles as a shop light for me and has many handy features. There are several colours to choose from and, at $15, we think it "makes a perfect gift". Do you agree?

I recently got a CPAP machine. My one has the full mask on it. I sleep better and so does my wife because of this machine. One drawback however is that wearing a mask for up to 8 hours per day is giving me the skin of a teenager as far as spots, blackheads etc. are concerned. Back in the day I found steam really helped my skin and also my sinuses. In the 1970s, machines like the one in the photo were quite popular and I am glad they still make them. I got the one in the photo for about $20. I think I can iron out a few wrinkles with this as well. It also comes in pink. I'm not so sure about those sharp pointy accessorizes that come with it however. I think this is a bargain. Do you agree?
