Superman would have been green with envy competing against these swimming aids made from bicycle tires. They were invented in 1925 by M. Goventosa de Udine and allowed the wearer to move at speeds of up to 93 mph! Admittedly, they aren't fashionable or even comfortable looking but would you be tempted to try them?

Seems wooden bathing suits used to be a thing. Invented in Washington in 1929, these suits were invented to make swimming easier. Never let it be said that politicians are the only controversial things in Washington. Were you aware of wooden bathing suits before this survey?

The Hangover Mask was invented to be a boon to all the poor souls suffering from hangovers. It was made up of ice cubes and was coined by Max Factor in the US in 1947. Does it surprise you that the cosmetic company was the inventor?

Give credit to the British for inventing the Rolling Bridge during the Victorian era. The bridge enabled the user to move across the water on a rolling platform that was attached to rails. It didn't remain in use long though. Somehow the idea just never grew in popularity in that time period. This is not to be confused with the Rolling Bridge completed in 2004 at Paddington Basin, London. How comfortable would you be with a rolling bridge?

According to listverse.com, the Pet Rock became the most useless yet wildly successful invention in consumer history. Its creator, Gary Dahl, marketed ordinary rocks as if they were live pets. Each one came with a carrying case and owner's manual for their care and training. Despite the fact that it did absolutely nothing, the Pet Rock captured the hearts and imagination of millions. No judgement from the survey author, to each his/her own. Did you ever buy or were you ever given a Pet Rock?
