This survey is about Chuck the IT guy and the problems my wife had/has with people like him. There are Chuck clones everywhere who are equally challenging.

MY wife worked in an adult education institution that helped people who had fallen though the employment cracks due to lack of skill, abilities, motivation, confidence, and because of being born into poverty. Her clients were usually sponsored or assisted in some way by a government program. As a result the institution was directly linked online to government computer systems that provided funding for those unfortunates. Or they would be linked if Chuck the IT guy did not do system updates without warning and shut down the system. He also switched software and hardware without concerns about compatibility and created chaos that lasted for days. Nobody knew when and how he would strike but, ever since then, every time a website has an update that completely messes up our account, my wife and I calls it a "Chuck Moment" - funny what his name rhymes with. Here are a few curse causing moments created by Chuck and his friends
1. We like a specific pizza from a specific franchise location. About once a month I would log in, click reorder and 20 minutes later I would pick up my order. Then Chuck updated their website. Now we have to select which store we are ordering from, design our pizza from scratch, then tell them for the second time which store we will be picking up the pizza from. To select which store we have to select from the complete list of stores in our province. None of this information gets saved. Can you think of a reason why any business would let "Chuck" go anywhere near their website?

2. I had a 48 day streak going on Wordle and my wife had a 168 day streak going on her Weight Watchers App. In both cases "Chuck" updated the websites and reset these streaks back to zero. The companies that own these sites are of substantial size and reputation. Doesn't it seem strange that they would hire a "Chuck" to manage their websites?

3. My wife and I have money in a registered account, similar I guess to a RRIF in Canada and IRA in the USA. We take the minimum amount each year into income because otherwise it would only serve to reduce our government pensions and increase our income tax while depleting the registered account by more than we want it to. A few years ago, "Chuck" did an update which caused the maximum amount to be paid out. Because it was a registered account, there was no way to put the money back in after it had been paid out. It took 2 tax years to get everything back into balance and probably cost us about $1000 in lost benefits and increased taxes. Who should get fired first - Chuck or his supervisor?

4. We had previously ordered Lego online for our grand-kids for pick up in store by their parents. We were touring at the time and nowhere near a Lego store. Chuck updated the website and now when we click on the link for our local Canadian store, it defaults to the American website with American prices and asks for a zip code and other info that does not match with Canadian websites. Even when we manually made it to the Canadian website we were no longer able to order online and pick up in store. When I discussed this with store management they said they knew about the changes but were powerless to do anything about it. Chuck has updated the website and lost the store our business. Have you ever cancelled doing business because of "Chuck" and his "computer magic" (he makes profits disappear)?
