With digital photography making photo taking so easy, and so immediate, it may come as some surprise that recently film photography has been slowly gaining in popularity, again. West Camera, in Toronto, reports a 50% increase in analog film photography in the last two years. The owner, Dylan Taylor says he gets sometimes over 100 rolls of film a day to develop, and while many of their customers are older photographers who never stopped using film, the movement has been primarily driven by younger people. "If you're younger, you never had the chance to use the analog technology because you [never] had to, and it's very different from taking a picture on a digital camera," Taylor said. "You have to wait, you have to think about every shot. Make sure that it counts." Have you ever used film for photography either in the past or now?

With texting, instant messaging and Instagram being the fastest way to communicate these days, there are still many who are discovering the joy of "putting pen to paper". A store in Toronto, Wonder Pens, has seen a big increase in business in the last few years, particularly with customers looking to putting their thoughts down on paper. The owner, Jon Chan, says that journaling has become very popular, with people, just like in analog photography, discovering handwriting again. "Emails get lost, you're going to leave them in your inbox, but letters you'll put in a box. And you'll refer to them and they'll be really special memories you'll always have," Chan says. "Handwriting makes you slow down to think about what you're actually writing." Have you ever kept a hand-written journal?
