"Where There's A Will, There's A Waistcoat" -- read on, it will all make sense later. A Pennsylvania woman who's dying of cancer is trying to find a home for her beloved 15-foot-long plant. Gabrellen Pfarr has only a few months to live after deciding not to pursue further treatment for cancer. Now, the 83-year-old wants to find a caring home for the sprawling plant she's been nurturing for 10 years. She says her husband will move in with family members after she dies, and they don't have enough room or natural light to take on the plant. Pfarr is a retired art teacher who says she doesn't have a green thumb but the plant she describes as a philodendron has thrived nonetheless. Have you ever taken over the care of a plant for someone who either moved, or was not able to properly care for it?

Jewelry, money, real estate -- all the typical things left in people's wills. But some of the oddest things famous people (and one not quite famous person, but really too unusual not to mention) bequeathed or requested in wills, which proved the old adage -- "Where there's a will, there's a way (or waistcoat)". Have you heard of any of these strange requests or bequeaths?

In 1679, the generous Henry Green left the use of all of his (vast) lands to his sister Katherine Green, but only if she did something to preserve the good name of Green. He requested that she gave four green waistcoats to four poor women 'in a green old age' every single year. They had to be lined with a special green lace and delivered before the 21st of December, so that they could be worn on Christmas Day. (Yes, there it is! Now it all makes sense)

Harry Houdini, one of the greatest escape artists and magicians of all time, left a very bizarre Will. All his life, he had a keen interest in the Occult, which continued after his death. He left his wife a secret code of ten random words, that he would use to try and contact her from the afterlife. His wife held annual séances on Halloween, waiting for his contact. But sadly he never called.

His friend Annie's birthday fell on Christmas day and she had felt cheated out of a 'real' birthday. So, Stevenson left her his own birthday of November 13th. However, he asked that she treat his birthday with 'moderation and humanity… the said birthday not being so young as it once was!'

He wanted his remains to be preserved and to preside over the board meetings! His bones were reassembled into a skeleton inside a mannequin that wears Bentham's clothes. Today, he lives in a glass-fronted cabinet inside UCL's main building.

All her wishes came true.
