Definitely not your average squirrel! The Malabar giant squirrel (also known as the Indian giant squirrel) which lives in India, is twice the size of our North American squirrels. Their bodies can span 36 inches from head to tail. But it's not only the size of the Malabar squirrel that is impressive. The most noticeable thing about the species is the color of their fur. Their beautiful fur can be black, brown, orange, maroon and purple. I guess Mother Nature couldn't pick just one color when she created these fascinating animals. And it's not all just for show. In the dense forest, the patchy colors and dark hues are a great adaptation to avoiding detection. Have you ever heard of this animal prior to this survey?

African art had a powerful influence on Picasso, so did Picasso influence African insects? Otherwise known as the Zulu Hud Bug, this colorful shield-backed creature is often mistaken for a beetle. Its geometric design helps it blend into its surrounding and is meant to warn off predators. Full grown Picassos are only around 8 millimeters long and live in tropical Africa from Ivory Coast to Ethiopia. Do you admire the intricate patterns on these tiny little bugs?
