A friend of mine celebrates her anniversary every year, overshadowed by memories of one of the saddest and most tragic days in recent history -- September 11, 2001. She said when she got up that day to take her vows in a Mexican resort surrounded by family and friends, she never thought it would be so bittersweet. One of her guests even spent most of the day on the phone trying to assure her brother (who worked in the second tower) was safe (he was). Do you know anyone else who celebrated a happy occasion (wedding, birth of baby) on September 11, 2001?

When you hear September 11, let alone September 11, 2001, most people immediately think of that day. It tends to overshadow other important or significant events that also happened on September 11. Did you realize that any of these events happened on September 11?
In Arlington, Va., the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the building that would become known as the Pentagon, in 1941. Oddly enough 60 years later, the Pentagon would be struck in the same terrorist attack that brought down the Twin Towers.
