A friend of mine celebrates her anniversary every year, overshadowed by memories of one of the saddest and most tragic days in recent history -- September 11, 2001. She said when she got up that day to take her vows in a Mexican resort surrounded by family and friends, she never thought it would be so bittersweet. One of her guests even spent most of the day on the phone trying to assure her brother (who worked in the second tower) was safe (he was). Do you know anyone else who celebrated a happy occasion (wedding, birth of baby) on September 11, 2001?

My brother was born on December 7, many years after Pearl Harbor, but since my mother was American, it had an unpleasant association for her. Does anyone you know, or even yourself, have a special date that coincides with a significant date in history?
