If you have seen Disney's "The Lion King" you will know how realistic the computer-generated film was. In fact, there was only one real scene in the entire movie, in the opening sequence. And while Donald Glover may have bought Simba to life, the CGI version of the cub was inspired by a real-life baby lion: Bahti, who resides in the Dallas zoo. When Bahati was a month-old, the zoo said it shared photos and videos of her with Disney as a model for the movement and behavior of baby Simba. 'Bahati' means 'lucky one' in Swahili, and the cub's birth was considered to be just that. Before Bahati, the cub's mother had only previously delivered still-born babies. According to the Dallas Zoo, Bahati was the first lion cub born at the zoo in over 40 years. Weighting a mere three pounds via c-section, she now weighs a healthy 165 pounds. Can you see how she inspired the character of Simba?

Lewis Carroll always denied that the characters in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There (1871) were based on real people, which led many to surmise that they were based on many different people, and even on drug hallucinations, although Carroll wasn't thought to have been a recreational drug user, and the references may say more about the people making them than the author.
