William "Bill" Post, the man credited with inventing the iconic toaster pastry Pop-Tarts, died Monday, February 12, at 96. Have you ever had a Pop-Tart?

Pop-Tarts debuted to the public in 1964 with four original flavors: strawberry, blueberry, brown sugar cinnamon and apple-currant. The toaster pastry remains a favorite among customers 60 years later, with around 3 billion sold in 2022. There are more than 20 different standard flavors available today. Following Pop-Tarts success, Toaster Strudel launched in the U.S. in 1985, but the brand traces its start back to 1979, when Pillsbury challenged product developer Joe Perozzi to come up with something new.
