Some of these will make you wonder why a law was ever needed in the first place. One such peculiar law exists in San Francisco, California where cleaning a car with underwear is illegal. According to this unusual regulation, if someone is caught cleaning a car with underwear, they can be fined. Section 694 of San Francisco's legal code outlines strict rules about cleaning cloths. It states that no person, firm, or corporation may sell or offer for sale dirty clothes or rags intended for cleaning clothes, bedding, sheets, or related items unless they have been cleaned by boiling for at least 40 minutes in a solution containing a minimum of 5% caustic soda. Maybe a law originally drawn up to regulate commercial car washes, but it's still on the books, so be careful what you clean your cars with, San Francisco car owners! Do you ever hand wash your car?

Australia has definitely its share of weird laws, and although they are not enforced to this day, they are still technically laws. For example, it is an offence to make unreasonable noise with a vacuum cleaner after 10pm or before 7am on weekdays, and 9am on weekends, in Western Australia, it is illegal for people to have more than 50 kgs of potatoes in one place and in South Australia, if you don't have a good excuse for ringing another home's doorbell you could be slapped with a fine. Have you ever visited Australia?
