In 2004, British officials banned the importation of potatoes that came from Poland. It was not because the Brits have anything against the Polish; the law was put in place because there was an outbreak of ring rot (a disease that can ruin potato crops) on Polish potatoes. However, this law is still on the books today, and as such you have to follow that procedure. Do you know of any laws in your area that may have served a purpose at one time, but now do not make any sense?

If you do often swear, this tropical paradise may just be off your travel list. Saint Kitts, also known as Saint Christopher Island, has a strict law against using profanity in public, and failure to comply could get you arrested. Rapper 50 Cent let a curse word slip at a concert in 2016, and he was detained and fined for using "indecent language" during that performance. He was held in custody briefly, paid a fine of approximately EC$3,000 (roughly US$1,100), and was released to leave the country after his court appearance. Are you an occasional swearer?
