Trivia
Imagine sitting around a dinner table and discovering that everyone in the room remembers a major historical event exactly the same way—except that event never actually happened. This isn't the plot of a sci-fi thriller; it is a documented phenomenon known as the Mandela Effect.Named in 2009 by paranormal researcher Fiona Broome, the term describes a situation where a large mass of people shares a vivid, specific, but entirely false memory. Broome discovered that she and thousands of others distinctly remembered Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s, complete with televised funeral coverage and a moving eulogy. In reality, Mandela was released in 1990, became the President of South Africa, and lived until 2013.
