Decades ago I worked for our town's local supermarket. One of my coworkers was from Vietnam and still learning the English language. On rainy day a customer came in and asked my coworker for assistance. She asked him if the store sold umbrellas. He did not understand what she was looking for. The customer then tried again but this time said rain poncho. Still confused the customer tried again and said do you sell any rain coats. My coworker said, "Oh" and he led her to where the store sold condoms. Did you know Rain Coat is a slang term for condom?

I know when I was learning a new language I was taught the swear words in that language first. Do you think teaching a person swear or slang words first when learning a new language is a good idea?
