Is anything safe to do? Sometimes all these dangerous situations make me wonder...

Window Screen Fall-- Cause/Mechanism: Young children leaning against standard insect window screens on upper levels of homes.-- Effect: Screen pops out of frame, resulting in multi-story fall onto ground below, causing severe polytrauma, long-bone fractures, abdominal tears, and fatal brain injury.-- Treatment: Call 911. Do not move or lift the victim to prevent worsening spinal injuries. Keep the victim warm and still until paramedic trauma teams arrive. Do you have a 2nd story or higher window with a screen?

Hydrofluoric Acid Burns from Rust Removers-- Cause/Mechanism: Skin contact with heavy-duty automotive wheel cleaners or industrial rust removers containing hydrofluoric acid --.Effect: HF penetrates skin without initial pain, binding to cellular calcium and causing deep bone necrosis and fatal systemic hypocalcemia (cardiac arrest).--Treatment: Flush with water for 1 minute, then immediately apply 2.5% calcium gluconate gel repeatedly to the area. Transport to an emergency room immediately. Do you ever use rust remover?

Drill Press Glove Entanglement-- Cause/Mechanism: Wearing work gloves while operating a high-torque drill press; the rotating bit catches the fabric and pulls the hand into the spindle.-- Effect: Spiral bone fractures, finger amputations, and severe soft-tissue avulsion (degloving).-- Treatment: Stop the machine power immediately. Control bleeding with direct pressure and elevation. Wrap any severed digits in damp sterile gauze, place in a sealed bag, set the bag on ice, and head to a trauma center. I used a drill press at one of my previous jobs. Have you ever used a drill press?

Glass Table Top Shatter Cut Cause: Falling on or against or dropping something on non-tempered glass coffee or dining tables, causing large, sword-like shards to fall.-- Effect: Severe deep lacerations, major arterial severing (femoral/brachial), and life-threatening blood loss.-- Treatment: Apply immediate, firm pressure to the bleeding site with sterile gauze. Apply a tight tourniquet 2–3 inches above limb wounds if arterial bleeding continues, and call 911. One time I was taking a ceramic pitcher full of water outside to water some plants. I tripped on the stairs and fell, with the pitcher falling ahead of me and breaking into large pieces. I landed on one piece with my wrist and just missed cutting an artery. Have you ever broken a glass tabletop?

Seek medical care for pulmonary evaluation, oxygen therapy, and anti-inflammatory treatment. Do you use feather pillows? (down pillows)

Fire Ant Mass Stinging Anaphylaxis-- Cause: Stepping onto an unseen fire ant mound in the yard, triggering a coordinated defensive mass attack.-- Effect: Hundreds of solenopsin alkaloid stings causing intense burning, systemic pustules, and life-threatening anaphylactic shock.-- Treatment: Brush ants off immediately (do not wash with water, which causes them to bite down harder). Administer an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen) if systemic allergic symptoms (swelling, difficulty breathing) occur, and call 911. Are there fire ants in your area?
