Conspiracy Theories & Crazy Creatures: What Our Members Believe

Conspiracy Theories & Crazy Creatures: What Our Members Believe

From UFOs and moon landings to portals to other dimensions, the world is filled with strange and mysterious stories. But what do people actually believe? Our members were surveyed on some of the most famous conspiracy theories and bizarre paranormal encounters—here’s what they had to say!

Roswell: UFO or Weather Balloon?

The 1947 crash in Roswell, New Mexico, is one of the most debated UFO conspiracies of all time. Our members were nearly split on the issue—43% believe it was a UFO, while 47% think it was just a weather balloon. With decades of speculation, secret government files, and alien pop culture references, this debate is far from over. Tellwut member Cineaste comments "Roswell, no clue, have heard everything from UFO to test vehicle."

JFK Assassination: Inside Job or Lone Gunman?

One of the greatest mysteries in American history—the assassination of John F. Kennedy—continues to stir controversy. According to a recent survey, 54% believe it was an inside job, while 40% accept the lone gunman theory. Was it a government cover-up? A deeper conspiracy? The mystery remains unsolved. Susandawn writes "Often wondered about the JFK assassination, their report seems kinda far fetched."

Moon Landing: One Giant Leap or One Big Hoax?

Despite years of evidence, some still question whether the moon landing really happened. Fortunately, the majority (75%) of our members agree that it was real, though 20% still believe it was staged. Jwt7000 wrote "Millennials and Gen Z born after the moon landing still have not seen a real moon landing by humans to this day."

Area 51 and Aliens: Do They Exist?

Area 51 has been shrouded in secrecy for decades. Do extraterrestrials exist there? 31% of our members say yes, 40% say no, and 27% remain undecided. The truth may be out there—but will we ever know for sure? Olivertwist666 shared "I've been saying aliens have been visiting earth all my life. Armies are finally admitting it today. A lot of conspiracy theories turned out to be true, and it's still going on today."

The Wildest Theories About Earth

Flat Earth? Hollow Earth? Are we living in a simulation or trapped in a dome? While most of our members weren’t convinced (71% didn’t agree with any of these theories), 8% believe the Earth is flat, 6% think it's hollow, another 6% say we live in a simulation, and 6% claim we're inside a dome. If any of these turn out to be true, we’re in for quite a revelation! Diamonde commented "Let me get this straight: It is possible to look into the sky and 'see' constellations and star clusters and Saturn's rings but believing the Earth is round is too far a stretch of the imagination. "

Mysterious Portals and Paranormal Encounters

Some places in the U.S. have legends so eerie that they seem straight out of a horror movie. Take Beaver Dunes Park in Oklahoma—known as the “Shaman’s Portal.” Dubbed Oklahoma’s Bermuda Triangle, locals believe it’s a UFO crash site, with several reports of people mysteriously vanishing. However, only 12% of our members think portals to other dimensions exist.

Meanwhile, in Blue Ash, Ohio, urban legend speaks of a "portal to hell" called Satan’s Hollow. Satanists allegedly opened a gateway to the underworld, and eerie screams and floating figures have been reported in the area. Whether or not it’s real, 26% of our members say they’ve personally seen or heard something unexplainable. 1joyinlife commented "I love this survey. There are indeed many things mankind will never be able to explain."

Then there’s Tower Hill Road in Rhode Island, which is said to be haunted by ghosts, zombies, and even a Bigfoot-like creature called the "Man Monkey." A solid 20% of our members claim they’ve experienced something paranormal—so maybe there’s more to these legends than meets the eye.

Skinwalker Ranch: Aliens or Witches?

Skinwalker Ranch in Utah is famous for sightings of mysterious creatures and strange lights in the sky. Some believe skinwalkers—malevolent witches in Navajo folklore—are actually extraterrestrials. Do aliens exist? 21% of our members think so. Whether these beings are from another planet or another realm, Skinwalker Ranch continues to be one of the most haunted places in America.

Final Thoughts: Believe It or Not?

From government cover-ups to ghostly encounters, conspiracy theories and paranormal tales continue to captivate us. While some dismiss them as fiction, others insist there’s more to these stories than skeptics are willing to admit. No matter what you believe, one thing is certain—there’s no shortage of mysteries in the world!

One comment that we can agree with from bjsalkeld : I think I believe in sprits and ghosts enough to respect them and do not think messing around with the super natural is the best idea.

What do you think? Have you ever encountered something unexplainable? Let us know in the comments! A big shoutout to luvbugnmama1 and Pinkmafia for creating the surveys that inspired this blog post! If you would like to read the surveys, here are the links:
