Money
I know someone who just received a nice inheritance.. Before they received the money, they were already debt free and living comfortably. Not rich, but able to meet all expenses and not have to worry. They asked my advice on how to share it after they make some investments for their future. I'm coming to you, my fellow Tellwuters for ideas. Suggestions I have made are: 1) Give at least 10% to your church 2) Pay off some people's mortgages for them 3) Pay off some people's medical bills for them 4) Drop bags of cash on people's porches on Christmas Eve & sneak away What are your ideas?

I think 1) give 10% to a worthwihile CHARITY, not a church. Too many churches aren't the best stewards of the money. And, 2) seek out families who are barely making ends meet and sneak them some cash (from #4 above).

Tithing is fine. Giving money to individuals is tricky, as someone always discovers it and feels aggrieved. Lots of local charities exist which would be worthwhile to support.

Animal shelters are *always* in need of more money. They are woefully understaffed, underfunded, and ill-equipped to handle it all. People get a cute little rabbit for Easter, only to give it up afterwards, for instance. They end up in shelters, and many are put down, because shelters don't have the space for all the animals that keep showing up.

Give money to their favorite charities (legitimate ones ) Buy things that friends or relatives might need. Paying off someones mortgage is a bit much in my opinion, but if you can do it without pain go for it. My ideas are mostly share with the family and a few choice friends and some charities and the church of choice and then bank the rest. I do not have any knowledge of investments, but if I did or I knew someone I could trust, I would invest. Sometimes people react poorly to someone giving them large sums of money, they may take it as an insult that you think they can not handle their business, or that you are looking down on them. I have shared unexpected windfalls of money with some family members and I heard that they think I did not give them enough because I had so much more, that taught me a lesson about that particular relative. Never again give them diddly squat.

1. Tithe 2. Give some to the USO, the service men they help deserve it so much. 3. Give some to a grassroots animal rescue group not the national ones that pay executives too much. 4. Buy some toiletries and clean socks/underwear and give it to the homeless. 5. Locate a nursing home resident that gets nothing for Christmas except the pittance the home gives them and ask what they need and also provide a treat they don't expect. The light in their eyes can be magical.

Purchase full page ads in every Canadian and US newspaper explaining the dangers of Communism to educate the lefties before it is too late. Communism is not beneficial for the people- it gives FULL power and control to the government. Free speech is shut off and you will only read and hear what the corrupt government wants you to. Everything will be taken from you except for what the government gives you permission to have. Everything you purchase and do will be monitored and rationed. Private wealth will be crushed. Generational wealth will be crushed. Food will be full of chemicals and grown in a lab. Tax will be so high that home and auto ownership will be impossible. The government will inject you with anything they choose- will make you more complacent and easy to control as well as control the population numbers. You will be disarmed and unable to defend yourself from the thousands of criminals they are unleashing into our countries. They want you high and doped up so you don't see what is going on and unable to fight back. This isn't conspiracy theory. This is our future if you don't wake up! See how the lefties try to shut anyone who speaks up down- calls them BS names like racist and bigots. Ignore them and educate yourself! The communist have infiltrated the Democrat party and they are too high and or indoctrinated to know what is happening. You must vote Republican. Vote red to stop this. Wake up. Best use of money to educate people. Older people lived comfortable lives- now the younger generation will have a future of pure hell unless they wake up now!

Animal shelters, orphanages (toys, clothes, shoes), even homeless shelters, go to a walmart & buy paper towels, tp, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, brushes, socks, underwear, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, & if there are children that are housed there, then diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, baby toys, books to read, coloring books, crayons, socks, baby blankets. If I had the money that is what I would do. Try & help the homeless. Maybe even buy food that can be used in their kitchens.

Donating to charities always seems like a idea, however, you should research each charity first to make sure they are reputable and actually put a good percentage of donations towards the cause and not just executive salaries, administration, etc. Studies have shown that some CEOs earn $250 - 350,000 per annum and that seems a little steep to me.

I would tithe 10% to our church because God blesses happy giving. I would pay off a mortgage which was not my own. I would set up a trust for my kids and potentially for my husband's kids/grandkids depending on the amount I won. I would set aside something for my old age and help my siblings with their retirement. I'd probably go on one big expensive trip with my family and my husband's family.

The bags on the porches would be stolen so that's out. I would love to do the first three. However, I think starting a self-funding foundation would be great--your original seed money would start it and allow the foundation to make money with a product or service. The proceeds would fund your choice of giving such as early childhood mental health or parenting education (would help eliminate youth violence), drug free living, homelessness, or helping animals or the environment. Long after your initial windfall was gone, your foundation will still make a difference.

I know many who could use a washing machine. 4)People are homeless. Support a homeless shelter 5)yes 10 percent to church is expected of those following your faith 6)Pay attention when shopping. Poor people often have to leave somethings at the check because they don't have enough money. So pay it forward. Once a man at the check gave a gift card to the clerk and told him to give it to the next person. 7)Some of it could be invested and earnings go to a charity or person 8)there are usually people you know in your daily life who could use a helping hand that you never even thought of such as the bus driver, the janitor, the woman with 3 children whose husband just died 9)Be creative and it will be fabulous! I think giving to organizations that you like alot and does good for their community, would be the places I would help out. I think when you start helping others, word will accidentally get out and you would end up with people door knocking that they need money for this and that and it could become a headache. I think if the person went to their church and asked them if they knew of any members of the congregation that could benefit from the money, it could be given without the person receiving the money ever knowing.

Invest in low income housing projects, start a foundation for angel of mercy services, help people get back on their feet, or start businesses. Just give back where you can. Because those who can should. Karma is a real thing. If you are good to others, then you will be good to yourself too. And attract goodness to you. And of course it goes without saying, support those around you if you can. Family, friends in need. Forget loans, just give. No one needs the stress of borrowing from/owing to others.

I would give it to someone I knew who needed it, regardless of why. However, it would have to be done without any strings attached or expectations. Because there is always that possibility the person isn't going to use the money the way you thought they would. People are people.

christmas is always the worst for some. I mean so bad they are getting nothing. few years ago I contacted someone in the church and asked if they knew of any child not having christmas. they said yes a 13 year old girl who lived with her father, the mother had left them when she was little and left him raising her on his own and he was doing a great job but due to covid and lay offs he lost his job and barely had enough savings to cover the month of december so I took her name and asked what she most wanted. then I was contacted by a lady who knew her and said all she wanted was a pair of skates. with 2 weeks to go I was not sure I could pull it off with delivery times but I did. she got her skates and 7 other gifts and a huge stocking of goodies. then my family and friends jumped in and added 4 more gifts and 100.00 kroger card for dad and a nice shirt for her to give to her dad. my friend said she was on cloud nine and had the best christmas ever and dad cried.

I like your ideas! One thing I always used to think about if I had that kind of money was being able to tip a really good waitress, waiter and outrageous amount. And even though this is on small scale I would love to go around finding lemonade stands for the like and pay a lot for one glass of lemonade. I know I would also give to animal shelters that take in her or maimed animals nobody wants. I would also make a list of people I knew and make sure they got a nice chunk of the money

This is quite comical I actually am in the middle of trying to receive an inheritance that I've been battling for 9 months from my husband's pension and it's a lot more harder than you think at least in Oregon because they don't want just the death certificate they have to have every little line filled out even the cause of death because it's under investigation because it was don't know why he died I didn't sleep so yeah hopefully you guys don't have that problem I'm trying to get this before that digital dollar comes out cuz I want the cash I'm totally on God's good graces living in my car right now so I kind of sort of need it but I'm debt free thought that was pretty funny

Rescue an animal that is truely unwanted. A great example would be a disabled or abused animal (cat or dog) or give the care (including medical) that it needs. Most people look over these animals in shelters and are at high risked of being put down. The other thing it sounds like this person is a christian, personally, I would donate money to the Voice of the Martyrs. They are a 501c3 non profit based out of Bartlesville, OK. that stands with the persecuted Christians around the world. Paying for medical bills, providing shelter, food, and supplies. They also give out Bibles, do care packages at Christmas and more.

The human services for the State should be able to help as there are many kiddos that are in foster care etc that need toys etc, schools also need help , I am familiar with this from helping the little town I live in . The police departments also appreciate small stuffed animals the officers can have in their trunk for a child who may be in an accident or a victim of child abuse etc. Thank you and your friend for wanting to help :-)

I could recommend a Mortgage Investment Company to put most of the money safely in, rather than into the stock market. If the MIC fund is operating properly, it should have been providing a very nice return every year over a period of time. We have had ours for over 30 years and it has never paid out anything less that 7.5% return. (This year, 10.5%). Don't give it out randomly to friends and relatives. Otherwise, they'll become dependent. If some close relative is really in dire straights, then a quiet personal loan might do. ,

First, tithe to church. After that, think of a favorite charity or a favorable type of charity and donate to them. If there are family members who could benefit by a sum of money, discreetly supply it as a one-time gift. Some people have surprised strangers who looked as if they needed a financial or spiritual life by handing them $100 bills, or rewarding kindnesses done with money.
