Minority Report was the only PG-13 movie I was barred from seeing. My mother had a confused memory of it, Taken, and some surveillance-conspiracy thriller, resulting in a mishmash imagined movie where the government used children to spy on Americans and it could happen to YOU.

My mom whited-out the glasses in Rat Pack poster in my bedroom so it'd look like they were drinking milk instead of booze. I was furious then, but today I'm more embarrassed for myself for being a "likes the Rat Pack" 14yo.

I was not allowed to date until 16, same for my kids. However, in 1999 I taught Math at the local high school, all 9th graders. They told me that while in middle school (under the age of 15), there were kids dating, double and triple dating; their parents chipped in for a limousine for the night. Would you have ever chipped in for a limo, so your middle schooler could date?
