Tom Swann Hernandez, founding chair of the veteran organization AMVETS Post 66 supported the campaign, saying in a statement to the San Diego Gay and Lesbian News: "Our perseverance has paid off. I've seen some pretty hateful remarks regarding the LGBTQ community on Tellwut. That said, these Vets fought for your freedom, which is not free. If you do not support the LGBTQ does knowing that they fought to keep freedom going on your homeland change your mind?
