For one of the newly minted NYPD cops who graduated from the Police Academy on Monday, the moment meant just a little bit more. With her swearing-in, Jillian Suarez — now Officer Jillian Suarez — took one more step down the path laid out by her hero father, Ramon, who gave his life to save others on 9/11. "When the confetti came down, I felt him hugging me," said Suarez after the joyful ceremony. "I've always loved law enforcement, but obviously when my dad had passed away, I realized that I wanted to follow his footsteps, and I want to continue the legacy." Suarez, now 26, had turned 9 just two days before her dad said goodbye to his family and left for work for what would prove to be the last time. She'll be wearing the same badge number has her dad, when she starts patrol in New York City. Are you familiar with this story?

Although I did research, I could not find any other people that joined the fire or police department, to follow their parent's passing on 9/11. However, there were many that enlisted in the military, such as Chris Kyle and Pat Tillman. Do you know anyone who became a fire fighter, police (following their parent(s), or joined the military specifically to fight the war on terrorism?

From 2000–2002, active duty Army personnel increased by about 4,400 people, Navy by about 10,000, and Air Force by about 13,000, and Marines by 13 people. This represents a 0–3% increase in size per service. Until now did you know it was only 0-3% that enlisted after 2001?
