Alabama is seeking to become the first state to execute a prisoner by making him breathe pure nitrogen. Nitrogen hypoxia is caused by forcing the inmate to breathe only nitrogen, depriving them of oxygen and causing them to die. Nitrogen makes up 78% of the air inhaled by humans and is harmless when inhaled with oxygen. While proponents of the new method have theorized it would be painless, opponents have likened it to human experimentation. Oklahoma, Mississippi and Alabama have all approved Nitrogen hypoxia but no state has used it. Do you consider this to be human experimentation?

The prisoner in question is Kenneth Eugene Smith, 58, who is one of two men convicted in the 1988 murder-for-hire slaying of a preacher's wife, Elizabeth Sennett. Sennett was found dead on March 18, 1988, in the home she shared with her husband in Alabama's Colbert County. Prosecutors said Smith was one of two men who were each paid $1,000 to kill Sennett on behalf of her husband, who was deeply in debt and wanted to collect on insurance. What are your thoughts on executing someone who commited one murder 35 years in the past?
It was a murder for hire, so it was intentional. He deserves the death penalty

A 35-year sentance is usually considered suffiecient for a murder conviciton. I wonder what happened to the other murderer, and to the preachers. 0.04% 1

It is not for me to decide. If he or any inmate is voluntarily taking the breathing nitrogen execution that should be up to them if they aren’t opposed to their execution in that manner. I personally think it would be horrible. 0.04% 1
