Results for - Political leanings, religious affiliation, gender identity, race – have you been confronted with controversial questions during a job interview?
In a former life, I was a Job Search Consultant at a state university. I assisted students with finding jobs, developing resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, etc. Part of the interview prep included what questions to expect from an interviewer and what questions to ask an interviewer. Several issues were considered taboo and/or illegal – religion, political affiliation, race, country of origin, prior arrests, pregnancy status, etc. Since my retirement, things have changed significantly, especially the political climate and emerging issues such as gender identity, pay equity and other social issues. I'm wondering what, if any, uncomfortable moments or controversial questions you have experienced during an interview, whether for a job or another type of position.
