Results: I firmly believe there are almost always more than 2 sides to important issues and I hate it when the media and opportunistic politicians try to restrict us to only 2. This survey is about one of these issues.

Yesterday in my town and across Canada, concerned parents, including those who are members of the LGBT community, protested about the inclusion of adult sexuality (in all its varieties) in the curriculum for elementary children as young as age 8. This is being done without the inclusion and participation of parents. Former moderate opinions are now (predictably) becoming polarized. I hope these outcomes are not part of some master conspiracy to undermine Canadian and US democracies but sometimes I'm not so sure. Here are some current outcomes - what do you think?

A favourite tactic of those who are not able or prepared to debate issues is to attach labels to their opponents and use character assassination rather than ideas. This was used in the case of UFOs and was used yesterday when Canadians of all political stripes, races and religions protested about adult sexuality being taught to elementary school children. They were called homophobic, right wing, religious zealots and fascists by some and specifically by Canada's prime minister and other political leaders. Here are some of the concerns protesters voiced. Which do you agree with?

Books are being removed from school libraries (some of them are classics) because they have been deemed by someone (parents have not been told who) that they are not inclusive enough. Why not simply explain why they might not have been inclusive at the time they were written?

Another issue of concern is school washrooms. Schools have to allow a child who was considered a male when born to enter a female washroom without any announcement if he/she/they wishes to. This can also happen with a "female" entering a "male" washroom but it happens less often. How should this "problem" (is it even one) be resolved?
Washrooms should be either vacant or in use and not gender specific. After all the washrooms at home work that way. There is no real need to have male or female washrooms.

My 10 years old granddaughter came home from school recently and announced "all the girls in my class are lesbians." I asked her how she knew this. Apparently her new principal had quickly found the required single student to request a gay straight alliance be established. What started with a single request quickly grew into a much larger group, but not for reasons of sexuality. Here are some possible reasons the alliance became popular. Which do you think are the most likely?
There may have been more girls who were questioning their sexuality and gender identity than first estimated.

Parents who stated they wanted their kids "To just be kids" or "to be allowed to be innocent" were from a cross section of Canadian society. Some were LGBT members, some were people of colour, some were religious and there didn't seem to be a definable political leaning. Nevertheless parents across Canada were condemned by the Prime Minister ""Transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia have no place in this country. We strongly condemn this hate and its manifestations."
