Politics
Welcome to my first and likely only survey on politics. There's an old saying "never talk about sex, religion or politics in polite company". I assume because the conversation may turn not so polite with everyone having different opinions on the subjects. While I follow the news, politics are not a subject I find particularly interesting and this is just a few random notions..

The title of the survey comes from a song in the musical Evita. Col. Juan Peron is vying for power with other military figures. It's presented as a game of musical chairs mentioning strategies to rise to the top. Watch the video if you want but starts "One has no rules, is not precise, one seldom acts the same way twice" and goes from there. I find this sums up politics at times, what's your take?
Yes - tends to get ruthless, shady, underhanded.

There's a quote from Frank Herbert's novel Dune which says, "When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movements become headlong - faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget the precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it's too late." In other words, politics and religion don't mix. Do you find this to be the case?

"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." - Mark Twain. Which begs the question do you think the powers that be that smart or just along for the prestige, power and money?
Yes - smart enough to get where they are, at least.

No - heck, sometimes think I could run for office ( not that I'm implying anyone here is an imbecile).

Guv'ment - a song from the musical Big River where Huck Finn's drunkard father is on a rant about the government being a fool's convention with hands in all his pockets. Despite that, says "Don't you love 'em sometimes". Do you ever have a good feeling about your government for whatever reason(s)?

The Greatest Show - there have been times here I have referred to politics as a three ring circus and this song from The Greatest Showman. Some seem staunchly one side or the other which can make for heated but sometimes amusing debates to one who is middle ground, moderate or whatever it's termed. Do you feel yourself on one side as far as politics?
Yes - which I may or may not disclose in comments.
