Results: Excess School Supply Requests

With the start of the new school year, most schools give students a list of required supplies. Each year the list seems longer and more expensive. I was surprised this year by some of the required items on the list of a second grader in our family. Do you have a child or are familiar with a child in school that received a list of required supplies?

Our second grader has dry erase markers and printer ink on his list! In a classroom of children, do you feel the students should be required to bring in printer ink for the class printer?

Each child is asked to bring in several of the same item. I understand not all children will be able to bring in supplies and often the supplies are kept in a central supply station. Last year we got everything on our student's list, including 4 large boxes of facial tissues and 2 bottles of hand sanitizer. A short time later, he got sniffles and came home with a note to send in a box of tissues and hand sanitizer. Do you feel it is selfish to label some of the supplies like scissors and rulers with the child's name?
