Louis Comfort Tiffany gave the impression that he designed all his pieces, but many talented women worked behind the scenes at Tiffany Studios.
1. Louis Tiffany (pictured) preferred his name remain at the forefront, so actual designers like the Tiffany Girls (or Arthur J Nash who supervised Tiffany's Glassworks) were anonymous. The records of Tiffany Studio were destroyed when it closed around 1930, so the contribution of the women remained mostly unknown until 2005 when an art historian discovered a series of letters former employee Clara Driscoll had sent to friends and family. Since Clara died in 1944, are you surprised these letters are still in existence?
