1. Largely unknown, the 35 self-named Tiffany Girls were talented artists, designers, and artisans who were responsible for many of Tiffany's most iconic glassworks. Their wages were similar to those of the men, but the Tiffany Girls were not allowed to be engaged or married (a common requirement of higher-paying jobs for women in that era.) During her 20 years at Tiffany Studios, Clara Driscoll, head of the Women's Glass Cutting Dept, left when she got married, returned when she was widowed a few years later, left when she became engaged, and returned when her fiance disappeared.
