2. On July 4, 1845, Thoreau embarked on a two-year journey in simple living, he had moved to a small house, more like a shed, on the property of friend and fellow writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson. He recorded his time there in Walden. The picture is a replica of what the inside of Thoreau's cabin would look like. So, there isn't really much room to move around inside. Do you think you would be able to manage well if you lived in a cabin in the woods?
3. I tried to visit the exact location of the cabin, but there was an outrageously high parking fee of $30 to out of state residents. So never visited the site and can't imagine Thoreau himself would be happy about it either, as he spent a night in jail for not paying his taxes because he didn't want to support slavery and the Mexican- American war. Are you upset with all the increasing fees to just do anything?
