Johnny Carson (1925-2005) was the late great star of the Tonight Show on NBC from October 1, 1962-May 22,1992. His sidekick announcer was Ed McMahon (1923-2009) Carson received 6 Primetime Emmy Awards, the Television Academy's 1980 Governor's Award & a 1985 Peabody Award. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987 & was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992. He received a Kennedy Centre Honour in 1993.
