I think in the past I've submitted surveys based on one person's name reminding me of others, but if I never have, one such poll follows below.

Jake Shears (born Jason Sellards) leads Scissor Sisters, a band--named for an act of lesbian physical intimacy--formed in New York City in 2001. The group moved to Great Britain, however, because they thought they'd find greater commercial acceptance there. Considering that during their 2002-2012 studio activity they accrued ten U.K. Top 40 singles and four Top Five albums... and nowhere near any such accomplishments in the U.S.... they seemed to have figured rightly. That's kind of too bad, as I've a good deal of use for Shears' Sisters' music. Have you heard, or heard of, Scissor Sisters before reading this question?

More Tellwutters may have heard of English jazz pianist/composer George Shearing, known for the way he would play a song's melody with one hand while adding chords with the other. Here he is with singer Peggy Lee on a vocal rendition of his "Lullaby of Birdland." Are you good at using both of your hands performing different tasks simultaneously?

Harry Shearer may be known by some reading this as the voice actor responsible for many of the voices on long-running animated sitcom The Simpson. By others, he may (also) be known as Derek Smalls of the parody heavy metal band/quasi-documentary subjects Spinal Tap. Between those two gigs, he started hosting Le Show, a weekly comedy public radio show-turned-podcast. From its early years were culled the bits comprising It Must Have Been Something I Said, his first comedy album. Since none of that long-player's available on YouTube, here's Shearer going on about how his show's flagship radio station unceremoniously dumped the program. If you enjoy him at all, how do you enjoy Shearer?

Because I like ten-point surveys...Sheer Heart Attack is the third album by English rock band Queen, which gave them their first U.S. Top 40 hit: "Killer Queen." Per a late 1974 interview group front man Freddie Mercury gave to English music paper New Musical Express, "It's about a high class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be wh*res as well." If you didn't already know it, would you have guessed that song to be about a sex worker?
