Results: This is part 2 of "Books and movies one can watch or read many times even though we know how they end." Today I will tackle movies I never seem to tire of. Movies that I have watched in cinema, then VHS, DVD and now on streaming download.

When I retired and started travelling, I converted my movies into digital/download. The ones I never tire of anyway. My wife does not share my love of these movies, but I am fortunate enough to have a "man cave" where me and my dog can watch the movies. I have a hard drive called "Good Movies Archived"." If you had such a category what movies would you have in it (digital or otherwise)?

I confess I like what used to be called "Chick Flicks" - are they now called "Rom Coms"? Whatever you call them, they are enjoyable due to their lack of violence, their relative lack of complexity and the escape from the mean spiritedness one finds too often these days. Hugh Grant is in some of them and if I had a favourite it would be "Notting Hill" which also includes Julia Roberts. Do you have a movie in this category you have watched more than twice?

My next category is what I call "Goofy Comedy" - no smut, no swearing, nobody dies and any violence is of the comedic kind where only the stunt doubles risk getting hurt (or so we were told). The one I have picked is "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" from 1963, starring just about everybody including Spencer Tracy. It is still available from the usual sources. I introduced it to the grand-kids over Christmas. Do you have a favourite movie that could be called "Goofy Comedy?"

I like westerns, especially what were called "Spaghetti Westerns" such as the ones starring Clint Eastwood. Maybe because the wild west was so different from woolly sheep Scotland. One I have watched several times is "A Fistful of Dollars" from 1964 but there are many I like in this genre. They are not exactly politically correct but enjoyable anyway. How about you - like them or not?

My final category (for today) is War Movies of the espionage type. Not the James Bond special effects type either but one where the bad guy just might win. In this one I have a tie with two movies, both with Donald Sutherland in them. "The Eagle Has Landed" and "The Eye of The Needle" both of which are fiction but could just as easily have become reality. Have you seen either of these movies and do you like this genre?
