Per Rotten Tomatoes: Beautifully filmed and unabashedly sincere, About Time finds director Richard Curtis at his most sentimental. Source: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/about_time

Although he can't change history, Tim resolves to improve his life by getting a girlfriend. He meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), falls in love and finally wins her heart via time-travel and a little cunning. About Time is essentially a romantic comedy, which I usually can barely tolerate, but this one redeems them. Do you like romantic comedies?

There are many hilarious moments in this movie. One of my favorite is when Charlotte, played by Margot Robbie, a friend of Tim's sister, stays with them for the summer. Tim is quite attracted to her and one sunny day, while sunbathing in the yard, she asks him to put sunblock on her back. Tim practically throws the book he was reading and rushes over to her side, only to fumble around with the sunblock and ends up drenching her in it. Mortified, Tim runs back into the house (to back up time). In the next scene, when Charlotte asks if he will put sunblock on her back, he calmly tells her to wait just a minute, finishes reading the page he was on, then casually walks over to her and unpretentiously applies a small amount of lotion to her back. There are great lessons portrayed in this movie – mostly about appreciating what you have and not wasting your time trying to make things "perfect," which can rarely be achieved. Tim learns that his father essentially lived every day twice. The first time, just experiencing it, and the second, noticing and appreciating the finer details that had been missed the first time through. My wife found the movie in Walmart's bargain bin and decided to give it a try. Since then, we have recommended the movie to friends and family and every single one of them ultimately fell in love with it – and many purchased a copy for themselves. Have you ever "stumbled upon" a movie that surprised you how good it was, but was little-known (feel free to share in comments)?
