In 1986, a movie called The Mission was presented starring now-top actors such as Robert de Niro, Jeremy Irons and Liam Neeson. The Mission projects the story of a Spanish Jesuit, Father Gabriel (Jeremy Irons) in the 1750s as he travels to a remote area of South America, nowadays region of Iguazu Falls where the modern borders the nations of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay in his quest to build a mission among the Guarani tribe to convert its community of Guarani Indians to Christianity. His actions of The Mission contribute to further fallout between the nations of Spain and Portugal in which lands of the Guarani are transferred to Portugal from Spain with the 1750 Treaty of Madrid. The Portuguese having slavery and the Spanish lands having no slavery among the natives.
