Concept - the first James Bond adaptation was a 50 minute version of Casino Royale for the CBS show Climax (Later Climax Mystery Theater). Barry Nelson starred as Bond. Did well enough Fleming was approached by CBS to create a possible series. He had a casual conversion with producer and screenwriter Kevin McClory. Ideas were batted around, one involving the theft of nuclear bombs. Do you think this possible in today's world?

Feud - the CBS deal never occurred, partly because MGM got the rights for existing and future James Bond novels. When Thunderball was published, Fleming got flack from Kevin McClory who felt co-ownership of the story. Fleming admitted the concept was one thrown around, but he developed the story and characters. This got into a lawsuit and deals made. Ever have a long going feud with somebody?

Never Say Never Again - starring Sean Connery, this 1983 flick is a remake of Thuderball. Was released by Warner Brothers with Eon Productions (usual producer of the Bond series) not involved. Stems back to the lawsuit and deal made with McClory he could develop his own version of the tale after ten years. The title is a play on Connery claiming he'd never play Bond again. Begs the question ever say you'd not do something again, but did anyway?

Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - John Barry wrote the score and title track for the 1965 Thuderball. He'd read a review using this phase for Bond, thought it would make a good theme song. Producers however wanted the film title in the song. In any case, here's the original tune. Ever known someone who "loves and leaves them"?
