Music
Yes, it's another surevey accompanied by a slew of music videos...because the music is pertinent to and exemplary of the survey's subject matter. I'd be pleased were fellow Tellwutters to enjoy the music I provide below, but any complaints claiming this time out that the videos having nothing to do with the questons will ring especially false.

For whatever reason(s), I was recently in a mood to watch music videos of certain strains of dance music from the early 1980's to the early '00's. incorporating synth pop, various permutations of house music, rhythmically steady post-punk, electro hip-hop, new wave, new romantic, Madchester dancey indie rock, jazz funk and disco/not-disco. The song with this question is on the more joyous side of what I was hankering to hear. Do you ever long for music without fully understanding why you desire the type(s) you crave?

Not long into my tuneful reverie, I thought that an evening of music videos of the types I was taking in, but on a huge screen or three in a venue with a dance floor, could make for a kind of club night I'd enoy taking in. But, I'm not sure how many would attend were I to organize one in my small-ish, rural town. Have you ever had what you thought was a good idea that you believed would go unappreciated by those for whom you'd like to offer it?

Were I to host such a club night or residency, especially in a dinky town like mine, one thing I'd discourage is requests. It's not that i'd not like to be pleasantly taken aback by suggestions that may jibe with the vibes I'd endeavor to maintain. But, harkening back to the origins of '70's disco culture, I appreciate DJ's/ VJ's taking dancers on unique aesthetic and emotional journeys. Do you prefer dancing to music already familiar to you, or are you open to being transported by possibly unfamiliar sounds someone else selects?
I'd rather dance to music I already know.

Another concern I'd have for such an event, even if it were to be a weekend afternoon tea dance of two or three hours, is that sticking to music videos-and I'd still like to have that immersive visual element-would eliminate most extended mixes of songs designed for club play. That would mean having on hand a great many videos, but I'm good with that if everything else would come together. Do you prefer dancing to shorter or longer pieces of music? .

It depends on the piece of music, the dexterity of who's mixing the music, etc.

If you've read through this much of the survey and thought "Is he crazy, wanting people to dance indoors nowadays?!," don't think I'd not considered coronavirus-related objections. With whatever precautions you'd want to take against covid, would you currently be comfortable dancing indoors among (hopefully) many others?
