Cracklin Rose was an inexpensive wine produced in BC Canada, and this is one theory of why Diamond wrote the song. The indigenous people would sit around and drink it. Morningside by Diamond is a song about dying alone. When Diamond's grandparents died they were alone and Neil thought about it extensively. They died without their children. Sometime later he saw a hand carved table in a shop and the song developed from there. Do you like his poignant song?
