This iconic singer songwriter was born December 31, 1943 & tragically died October 12, 1997 in a plane crash. He was an experienced pilot & died when he encountered a fuel issue & crashed his 2 seater airplane into the water off the California coast near Monterey Bay. He was alone & the autopsy showed no drugs or alcohol in his system. He was just 53 years old with 3 kids. His solo career took off in 1971 & he earned 14 gold & 8 platinum albums throughout his career. There's also a movie of his life called, Take Me Home: The John Denver Story.
