This iconic singer songwriter was born December 31, 1943 & died when his plane crashed off the California coast, near Monterey Bay on October 12, 1997. He was an experienced pilot & encountered a fuel problem that led to him crashing his 2 seater plane in the Pacific Ocean. The autopsy showed no drugs or alcohol in his system. He was just 53 years old. His solo career took off in 1971 & he earned 14 gold & 8 platinum albums throughout his career. There's also a movie of his life called, Take Me Home: The John Denver Story.
